I captured this pic on a camping trip to Joshua Tree with my best friend. He has the ultimate adventure mobile. Perfect for transporting us to a place to spend the night out among the stars.
This photo was a collaboration between myself and photographer Nick Lonstad.
Mountains of Time
A stark contrast between landscapes. The past several years I’ve been fascinated with how quickly geology changes from one area to the next. Within mere miles you can be in a completely different world. The variety in our landscape is truly a wonder to behold.

Centuries of Sunlight
It boggles my mind to think of how many times the sun has risen on all the rock formations in Joshua Tree. Ah, the vastness of time.
Desert Sunrise 6
A canyoneer rappels a hidden set of falls in Eagle Creek, Oregon, near the Columbia River Gorge. This spot has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
Even The Light Must Sleep
The last few moments of sunlight are some of the greatest moments in nature. Beautiful golden glows on the entire landscape, which gives way to a whole different type of life in the darkness of the night. The world never ceases to amaze me.
River of Life
I scrambled to get at least one decent shot of this sunset, and I was anxious as I thought I wouldn't get one. However, just moments before the sun dipped below the horizon, I was able to capture an image that I was very pleased with. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, everything is good with the world.
